Arch for Iowa House, District 89

So, you are probably wondering, who am I?

My name is Daniel Arch, and I am an Iowa City native and a fourth generation Iowan. I was born and raised here in this wonderful city, and I have gotten to see firsthand many of the issues facing this town. I am a graduate of City High School, and I am an alumnus (2025) of the University of Iowa. I have a bachelor's degree in business management, and a certificate in international business. I have been in Poland six times to teach English and to help the Ukrainian refugees living there.

I'm running for House District 89 because I have seen numerous concerns within my city and want to work within the government to affect changes. Among these concerns is the gross financial mismanagement of the Iowa City Community School District, the homeless crisis facing Iowa City, out of control tuition increases at the Regent Universities and a need for judicial reform in Iowa.

If I am elected I will call for a state audit of the Iowa City Community School District and if malfeasance has been committed, I will push for accountability. The homeless crisis facing Iowa City is larger than the ability of the city to respond. If I am elected, I will seek help from the State House to address the issues causing homelessness including addiction and mental health. Tuition increases at the Regent Universities (University of Iowa, Iowa State and UNI) are completely out of control. When my brother began the University of Iowa in 2010 tuition was $6458 per year. This year's tuition is $11,971 for residents, an increase of almost 100%. If I am elected, I will first call for a moratorium on tuition increases. Second, I will call for review of the burgeoning number of administrative personnel. It is also my desire to take action to see Iowa keep its graduates in-state. I would propose school loan forgiveness for graduates remaining employed within the state for a set period of time. Finally, the judicial system in Iowa has become overwhelmed. Both legal and civil cases are allowed to drag on for unreasonable periods. I would propose the State House would increase the number of district judges by 20% to address this crisis.

If these issues are a concern for you, I ask that you contact my campaign, ask for a yard sign, donate, and most importantly, VOTE FOR ME on November 3, 2026.
